What's the standard depth for a built-in wardrobe in NZ?

600mm internal depth is the NZ standard — enough clearance for a coat hanger on a front-to-back rail. For hallway or child bedroom wardrobes you can drop to 500–550mm; for walk-ins with side-hang, 400mm banks are common.

What ceiling height do I need for a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe?

Most NZ homes have a 2.4m stud. A built-in wardrobe can run the full height with a top box for seasonal storage, or stop at 2.1m with a bulkhead above. We machine every panel to your exact measured opening — send us the height and we'll cut to fit.

Unlike a freestanding wardrobe, it uses the room's existing walls, floor and ceiling as part of the structure — which means no wasted space and a seamless finish that lifts the value of the whole home.

Standard built-in wardrobe sizes in NZ
